Katherine Whipple's stone, just slightly right of center, stands in the Old Burial Ground in Ipswich. She is the wife of Elder John Whipple's grandson, also named John. It is believed that John's parents and grandparents are also buried nearby, although no stone stands for them. The cemetery was the final stop on a self-guided tour of less than three miles' duration that family members could take in and around Ipswich to see where immigrant brothers Matthew and John Whipple originally arrived and their families lived, worked and worshipped.
