Amongst the many giving to their nation during that great tragedy known as the Civil War were Generals William and Amiel Whipple, and Clara Barton, also a Whipple descendant. Don Streeter of New Hampshire prepared this and a couple of other interesting displays, which were shared during the history workshop and the picnic. Don's great grandfather Philander Streeter was also a Whipple descendant; Philander had been captured by the Confederates but eventually was released from Libby Prison into the care of Union Gen. William D. Whipple.
