Whipple Museum of the History of Science

"The Whipple Museum is a pre-eminent collection of scientific instruments and models dating from the Middle Ages to the present. The Museum was founded as a University Museum in 1944 after Robert S. Whipple, the director of the Cambridge Scientific Instruments Company, generously donated nearly 2000 antique scientific instruments and books to the University. The collection has grown ever since, expanding from the Main Gallery, formerly the 17th century Perse Room, into the Upper Gallery and discover. As well as being open to the public the collection also plays an important role in teaching and research." --Museum Introduction & Guide
