A Grecian woman--drawn on the back side of a page from "U.S.P.R.R. Ex. & Surveys. 35th Parallel." The page is "Figs. 1-6 Gryphaea Pitcheri," "Figs. 7-10.G - Pitcheri. Var.Navia," & "Fig. 11 - Ostrea Congesta." (look like freshwater mussels to me.) Other such pages used for sketches indicate it's "U. S. Pennsylvania Railroad Exploration & Surveys," dated 1853. So-- though unsigned--it's obviously NOT by Manley. --Sue Pittman
