Three United States Ships (USS) have been named Whipple, all of them during the 20th Century:
- Torpedo boat destroyer USS Whipple DD-15,
commissioned February 17, 1903 at Norfolk,
Virginia. It was decommissioned July 7, 1919.
- Destroyer USS Whipple DD-217, commissioned
April 23, 1920 at Philadelphia. In was decommissioned
November 9, 1945, at the Philadelphia Naval
Shipyard
- The third USS Whipple was initially
designated DE-1062 (ocean escort) when its keel was
laid at Seattle's Todd Shipyard, and when it was later
commissioned on August 22, 1970. Then, in July 1975,
its designation was changed to Frigate FF-1062. She
was decommissioned on Valentine's Day, February 14,
1992 and struck from the Naval Vessel Register on
January 11, 1995. She was sold to Mexico on December
14, 2001 and renamed Almirante Francisco Javier
Mina (F-140).
