The Parker & Whipple Co.

In 1868 John E. Parker and H.J.P. Whipple organized the Parker & Whipple Company in Meriden, Connecticut.

Eighteen years earlier, In the 1850 U.S. Census of Meriden, H.J.P. Whipple was living in John Parker's household—the only Whipple in the Parker household. John Parker was 44 years old; H.J.P. was 13. Those two teamed up to create their company 18 years later.

They manufacured locks, drawer handles, and other hardware. In 1880 they added novelty timepieces and alarm clocks.
