Grandmother's Mince Meat

Grandmother's Mince Meat was made by the Whipple Company of Natick, Massachusetts. Harrison L. Whipple (1857-1908) established the Whipple Company in 1899 in the back room of his grocery store on North Main Street. It became a holiday favorite across the nation. Earlier American mincemeat had been made of deer meat and later corned beef. Grandmother's Mince Meat, on the other hand, was a special blend of fruits, spices and sweeteners, using a recipe handed down from Harrison's grandmother.
