This appears to be a letter dated Ipswich [Massachusetts] January 18, 1821 regarding slaves of a Captain John Whipple of Hamilton [Massachusetts]. John Chadwick or Jack Chadwick and his wife, who were at that time destitute of the means of living and in need of relief. Exactly which of many persons named Captain John Whipple this might be is uncertain.
