G. A. Whipple Store, Orange, Mass.

The G. A. Whipple store of Orange, Massachusetts. The right side of the card reads "Mass. Scenery, Orange and Vicinity." The store was likely owned by George Alonzo Whipple. George was a trustee of the Orange Savings Bank from its incorporation February 7, 1871. Its first banking room was in the corner of the G. A. Whipple store. It appears that G. A. Whipple may have also been president of the Orange National Bank, which began business in May 1875? See pages 153-54 of the 1792-1892 Centennial Gazette, Greenfield, Mass., published as the Greenfield Gazette Centennial Edition in Greenfield, Mass., February 1, 1892.
