The John Whipple house shown here, at 52 College Street, is now owned by Brown University. It was built by John⁶ Whipple (Samuel⁵, Joseph⁴, John³, Joseph², John¹) in the 1850s. He was a distinguished attorney and statesmen. Henry Whipple, in his 1873 book, devotes pages (42-44) to his biography.
