Jesse Whipple House

Jesse Whipple House

This house, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built by William Whipple III about 1770 and added on to by his nephew Jesse5 Whipple (Eleazer4, William3, William2, John1) around the year 1800. It is built on land that came down through the generations from one of Captain John's original land grants in the 1660s. Captain William Whipple Junior and four of his sons became wealthy as lime manufacturers. Jesse sold the house in 1817 and moved, in a caravan of Quakers, to the state of Indiana. It was recently purchased by a friendly young couple from Minnesota. I was pleased to share some of their new homes history with them. Its address is 1073 Great Road in Limerock.
