Charles Frederick Whipple of Louisiana, formerly Baden Baden

According to the 1900 Census of Ward 5, Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, Charles Frederick Whipple immigrated from Germany to the United States in 1844. (Scroll to the bottom of his page in the Whipple Genweb for more specific information.)

A 1991 article by Elsie W. Lejeune published in Terrebonne Life Lines gives more information about the family, including Charles' sister Caroline, who died in Terrebonne Parish in 1879. Their parents were George Whipple and Caroline Stassen of Germany (possibly Baden Baden).

Although assumed to be a third Whipple line, might a descendant of the Dorchester/Providence or Bocking/Ipswich Whipples have immigrated to Germany, and from there to Louisiana? (Could DNA tests answer this question?)

Interested researchers might want to search for Whipples under variant names in Germany: Charles might be Karl or Carl; Frederick was commonly spelled Friedrich in 19th-century Germany. How would Whipple be spelled in Germany...?
